Britannia's growth has always depended on the ability to connect financial heritage with the demands of modern markets. The appointment of Lord Stanley Fink as Chairman of Britannia Global Markets gives that story a significant new chapter.

Lord Fink joins a clearly defined leadership structure. Britannia lists Julio Cesar Herrera as Chief Executive Officer of Britannia Financial Group, with responsibility for the group's development across London, The Bahamas and the United Arab Emirates. Steve Pettitt serves as Chief Executive Officer of Britannia Global Markets, while Lord Fink now chairs the board of that regulated brokerage business.

The distinction between those roles is important. Julio Cesar Herrera provides direction at group level. Pettitt leads the day-to-day executive operation of Britannia Global Markets. Lord Fink brings independent board leadership, strategic perspective and decades of City experience to the Global Markets company. Together, those responsibilities form a complementary leadership model: group vision, executive delivery and board oversight.

A business shaped across generations and markets

Britannia's corporate history belongs to both London and the wider international financial world. The Global Markets business says it has maintained a presence in the British capital for almost four decades, while today's group has expanded its operating reach across multiple jurisdictions.

According to Britannia, Julio Cesar Herrera has led that geographic expansion and the oversight of approximately 250 professionals, working within regulatory frameworks that include the UK Financial Conduct Authority, the Central Bank of The Bahamas and the Dubai Financial Services Authority. Before becoming group chief executive, he held responsibilities in strategy and mergers and acquisitions.

That background reflects continuity with the Herrera family's long association with financial services while also placing the emphasis on contemporary institution-building: regulated operations, specialised teams and international execution.

Lord Fink adds a different but complementary form of experience. He led Man Group from 2000 to 2007, when it became one of the world's most prominent listed hedge-fund businesses. He later served as chief executive and chairman of International Standard Asset Management and accumulated further experience across broking, financial technology and investment ventures.

An appointment that broadens the leadership bench

The value of the appointment lies in the combination. Britannia retains the entrepreneurial direction and international outlook that have driven its development, while adding a chairman who has already navigated growth and governance at a high level in British finance.

Pettitt has described Lord Fink's arrival as part of Britannia's effort to attract the talent required for its progress in institutional and prime brokerage. Lord Fink has praised the path taken by the firm, its professional team and the reputation it has been building.

Independent confirmation gives the announcement additional weight. Companies House records Lord Fink's appointment as a director of Britannia Global Markets Limited on 13 August 2026, and the current House of Lords Register of Interests identifies his chairmanship of the company.

Heritage meeting institutional experience

Britannia Global Markets operates across foreign exchange, commodities, base metals and financial derivatives. It is authorised and regulated by the FCA and serves an international range of institutional, corporate and private clients.

"Leadership is not ceremonial. It influences how a firm approaches risk, service, investment, talent and long-term reputation."

The addition of Lord Fink strengthens Britannia's capacity to consider those priorities at board level while its executives continue to build the business. The appointment is therefore more than a distinguished name joining a company. It represents the meeting of two traditions: Britannia's Herrera-linked financial heritage and Lord Fink's extensive record in the City of London.

For clients, employees and observers of the financial sector, that is an uplifting sign of institutional confidence. Britannia is entering its next phase with a broader leadership bench, clearer governance and a chairman whose experience has been tested across decades of change.

The story now moves forward under a team that combines continuity with renewal — an established financial name, a modern international platform and new board leadership for the opportunities ahead.
